Showboat Barbecue

Remember that day that we went to Tupelo to feed a giraffe? Well on our way out of town, we stopped by Showboat Barbecue for a quick lunch.

Showboat BBQ

When we saw where Showboat was on a map we were a little concerned about it being sort of sketch, but our concerns were put to rest as soon as we arrived. Super clean and really not scary at all. And truthfully, the employees and owner could not have been more friendly. They knew every person who walked in the door after us. Not only did they know their names and orders, but also joked around with them. It felt like a perfect little family atmosphere! One of the regulars (who turned out to be an Auburn graduate) gave Christopher a hard time for his Alabama hoody which evolved into a long discussion with topics all over the place. I don’t think we stopped smiling the whole time we were there. 🙂

Showboat BBQThis is just the regular pork sandwich plate. It was so much food! They have a jumbo plate that I’m pretty sure Christopher and I could’ve split. Their barbeque is sweet and slightly tangy and completely scrumptious! And their okra… oh my goodness, it was perfectly crispy and delicious. I really can’t say enough good things about this food!

Showboat BBQThe entire menu! As you can see, my plate with all that food on it was only $4.89! Their prices are exceptional especially for the quality of food!

Memphis is famous for its barbecue and to be totally honest… I think Showboat might be one of my top favorites. It’s in my top two right now. Our plan is to try all the places here and pick an absolute favorite. I’m pretty excited about that!

  5. Remember the place well. We used to eat there a long time ago when we lived in Memphis. Great BBQ!

  6. I feel like I need to make sure I wasn’t drooling while reading this. Not being able to have all my BBQ favorites is hands down the hardest part about being a vegetarian. This all looks amazing!! Glad you enjoyed it and I am happy to live vicariously through you 🙂

  7. Wow! Great price!!

  8. That pulled pork sandwich looks SO good. I literally just had pulled pork the other day, yet somehow that picture is making me crave it all over again.

  9. Omg that okra! I’ve never had it, but it looks amazing. What a deal!

  10. I love hidden gems like this place! Looks delicious and sounds like a lovely experience 🙂

  11. Wow, I can’t believe you got all that for only that much! Love little hidden gems or hole in the wall places (not that this one was), but sometimes those can be the best! How far is Tupelo? And so it may or may not be true that a few of us are already planning a little night out to eat on one of the places on the eating Memphis list on March 16. We’re impatient, what can I say. = )

  12. Doesn’t the food taste even better when the atmosphere is comfy and the employees/owners treat you like a friend? There are few things sweeter than an excellent dining experience at a favorite stop–especially when it’s one you’ve just discovered!

  13. I think I need to plan a road trip sometime soon. 😉

  14. Holy cow I can’t believe how inexpensive that plate was! You sure know how to find the best deals! Love it
