The Elvis Sandwich

Have you guys heard of this? It’s a simple concept: a peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich. Apparently it was Elvis Presley’s favorite sandwich combination {I mean, Wikipedia said so, therefore it must be true}. I’m not sure why it took us so long to try this out, but oh-my-wow, it is GOOD!

The Elvis SandwichTwo slices of buttered thick Italian bread topped with sugar and cinnamon. Filled with peanut butter, banana, and bacon and grilled to perfection.

The Elvis Sandwich ChocolateCan also be topped with a drizzle of chocolate syrup

The Elvis Sandwich SyrupOr even drenched in maple syrup

I can’t even begin to tell you how good this was. I mean, I love all the components to this sandwich and they really go together surprisingly well. I will say, this was super rich tasting so neither Christopher nor I were able to eat more than one, but oh my, it is tasty! Christopher loved it so much that he posted a picture of it to his Facebook wall which is saying a lot since he seldom uses Facebook. He called it a “magnificent, celestial sandwich.” So really, trust us, you should try this. 🙂

  1. I LOVE this combo!! I’ve made it into pancakes and just a couple of months ago I actually recreated The Elvis Burger…which was surprisingly delicious! I’m of the mindset that peanut butter goes with anything…and bacon can only make it better!

PS, I LOVE that you drizzled it with chocolate syrup!

    • So making this into pancakes sounds more than a little bit amazing! I need to get on that! 🙂 Oh! And the whole chocolate thing… definitely Christopher’s idea. He’s a clever one, that man. 🙂

  2. I love peanut butter and banana but I don’t like bacon. Maybe I could try turkey bacon instead? Hmm..sounds yummy to me! 🙂

  3. Looks like I need to try some faux bacon to try this!!

  4. Adding chocolate sounds HEAVENLY!!!!

  5. Wow that looks amazing!! I started eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches a few years ago but didn’t realize he put bacon on them too. The only way to make anything better is to add bacon. Can you tell I love bacon?

    • Oh girl, I am with you! Bacon is oh, so delicious! I actually have a pin on my “The Mr.” Pinterest board that says “You’re just like bacon. You make everything better”. 😉

  6. A cafe I go to sells a sandwich called “The Elvis” I have yet to try it. It pb banana and honey is yummy! 😋

  7. Whenever I am having a difficult time deciding what I want for lunch, and nothing sounds good, the grilled peanut butter banana sandwich is my go-to meal. People joke about Elvis being unhealthy, etc.; but if you are into exercise, this sandwich is full of protein and vitamins! It’s great for runners and weight lifters, especially!

    • I know, right! I nearly wrote about the healthy benefits of this sandwich, but then I remembered just how much butter and syrup I put on it, haha! But without those, it’s STILL really great and like you said, full of protein! 🙂

  8. Ohhhh my god. I’ve heard of this sandwich, but never seen anyone make it. Literally weeping at it’s beauty (ok, not really, but holy crap that looks SO GOOD)!

  9. This sounds awesome, especially with the maple syrup!! I LOVE sweet and savory combos. I will definitely be trying this out with vegetarian “bacon.”

  10. Umm… I’m loving this recipe! Especially the fact that you can smother an already delectable sandwich in chocolate and/or maple syrup. YUM!

  11. Hmmm. I don’t know…. I think I’ll have to try it just to prove myself wrong, because I’m completely comprehending how good this must be….

  12. I was already hungry, and you just made me hungrier! Dang that look so good. Hope you have a great weekend!

  13. Maybe I will try this after the pageant 😉 It sounds AWESOME!

  14. Wowwww never heard of that… I have tried a peanut butter pickle and bacon burger and it is surprisingly delicious. I might need to try this.
