It Twirls!

If you’ve been poking around the blog world for long, then you’ve probably heard of eShakti. But just in case you haven’t… eShakti is an online clothing store for women. They customize their clothing to your height, size, and style. And they asked me if they could send a sample dress my way for me to review and share about! Obviously they had not seen some of my fashion choices in previous years…

rach's fashion choicesYou know, like the time I was in Italy wearing a cute sundress and realized I quickly needed to add more to my outfit if I was going to go into the cathedral so I scrounged around and found a scarf and pair of yoga pants. Claaaassy. Or the Christmas when I decided to start wearing all the gifts I got. Yeah, I know… you’re all jealous of my style. 😉

Ahem. Moving on…

I chose the Draped Front Cotton Dress from their site and it arrived quickly (well under the 14 business days they promise). And here’s how it looked on me:

eshakti dress

As always, I am honest in my reviews regardless of whether I receive an item for free or if I purchase it myself. This particular item was given as a thank you for this review, but these truly are my honest opionions.

What I didn’t love:

– It was a little big on me. I ordered my size and it fit pretty well across the bust, but just under the bust was too big. I could have definitely ordered a size down. I actually slipped this dress on before I even realized there was a zipper I could’ve unzipped. However, I will say, it looks better on me than I thought it would for how loose it feels around the rib cage.

– The price. Yes, this dress was free to me, but in total honesty, it is more than I normally spend on a dress. I think eShakti’s clothes are beautiful and well made and a much, much better choice than spending the same amount of money on poorer quality clothes from other places. In fact, I couldn’t get over the quality of the material and how great it felt! However, it is rare that I spend more than $15 on any dress. I am a clearance-rack/thrift-store kinda girl. So I don’t want to give the wrong impression here to those of you who know this about me. I know many of you who read this blog, prefer a quality piece that might cost a little more vs. several pieces that might not last as long at a cheaper price. So for you ladies, this is your place to shop!

What I LOVE:

– The quality of the material
– The draped look to the front
– The way the dress falls to cover up a bloated tummy. I actually was super bloated when these photos were taken because I was just getting over being sick, but you can hardly tell in this dress. I’m definitely a fan of that!
– A pretty neckline that still covers what I want covered
– The skirt is perfect for twirling! Want to see? Check out this video:

It twirls! haha! I just love dresses that have the twirl factor! Also, I look a little clumsy twirling because I’m wearing high heels. It’s not as easy to twirl in high heels as I thought, ha!

eshaktiAaaand right now, for two more days, they are running a side wide sale up to 70% off! Free shipping on orders over $50! {source} So if well made, high quality clothing that is made to fit your body is your jam – I highly suggest you take advantage of this sale!

You can also check out eShakti on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter! 🙂

Are you more of a quality clothing shopper or a clearance rack shopper? Or a little of both perhaps depending on the situation?
Love Rach

  1. Your hair is GORGEOUS! I really like the dress and that color looks great on you. 🙂 My nonblogging sister ordered a dress from them and got a special deal. I’m just terrified of not measuring correctly and having problems with the fit. Did you decide to keep it or was there an option to get it sent back and resized?

    • I decided to go ahead and keep it because I hadn’t purchased it from them. If I had bought it, I definitely would have exchanged it for a different size, but I felt badly returning a gift so to speak, haha! But from the comments, it seems as if a couple of people have found that their dresses come a little big. So maybe order just a little smaller than normal? But again, even those this dress is a little big on me, I think it still looks pretty great on me (even though it feels loose). It’s definitely going to be a great “bloat day” dress! 🙂 Hopefully your sister’s dress will fit perfectly! Let me know how that goes!

  2. Awe that’s really cute!! Just looking at you, you can’t tell that it’s a little big!

  3. I love the color on you! Lovely lady! I always think it’s a plus if the dress twirls! =)

  4. I LOVE THE TWIRL video. They contacted me about doing a review, I can send you the link to my post I did about kindly turning them down if you message me. Is that your home in pictures? SO pretty!!

  5. I suppose I am a bit of “both” with the shopping, but really more of a clearance/cheap shopper. For things that I know will last me a while like a good jacket or outdoorsy clothes I will spend more.I ALWAYS spend more on shoes though, by that I mean hiking and running shoes.

    • Yeah, that definitely makes sense! Especially with shoes. I’m not one to spend a lot on “cute” shoes, but when it comes to the shoes I wear every day (my chacos mostly) or that I exercise in, I definitely am willing to spend more. It’s not worth the back problems that come with cheap stuff.

  6. Ah, I LOVE the dress you chose!! It looks so good on you 🙂 I actually found that mine from them was a bit big too…it fit well enough when I first tried it on, but when I wore it out for our anniversary, it was SO big! I chalked it up to the gym doing its magic, but maybe their dresses are all made with bloat room haha. And high five for clearance racks…that’s definitely how I buy most of my clothes!

    • Oooh, did you do a blog post about it? I mean, I remember you saying that the dress you wore on your anniversary was super loose, but I’m not remembering a post about eshakti, but I probably read it and have forgotten, haha! I want to see it again! I want to see your dress. 🙂

Aww, of course you are pro clearance rack too. That’s ideal for when we are neighbors someday and can go shopping together. 🙂

  7. That color and dress style looks amazing on you!!! 🙂 (AND I love the twirl factor too). I’m definitely a bargain shopper, but I also appreciate quality. (I used to buy a ton of cheaply made clothes, and then I found myself replacing them constantly. So not cool)! So now, I tend to do my bargain shopping at nicer stores, but I wait for sales… or browse the clearance racks. 🙂 And every once in awhile, I do splurge on a more expensive item, if it’s something that I LOVE that I feel is an investment piece. I’d actually never heard of eShakti before, but I will definitely check them out!!! 🙂

    • Yeah! I definitely have been inspired by your shopping habits when you do posts about it. I tend to go for inexpensive over quality by habit and I am really trying to break that. I want to buy more quality pieces, but still not spend a fortune. So I love reading about you hitting the clearance racks and how you find such cute stuff! 🙂

  8. i am a quality shopper but don’t want to pay full price so i wait until it goes on the clearance or sale rack, always works in my favor!

    • I think that is the way I am finally starting to lean. I’ve always been such a buy-cheap-clothes-only kind of girl, but I do want to have a few nicer pieces as well. So I am starting to learn to watch for sales at nicer stores. 🙂

  9. The color is beautiful on you. And pockets on a dress are always a WIN. As is twirling. I’m mostly a bargain shopper – even (or maybe especially) on the higher quality stuff (rarely do I buy something at full price from J. Crew, Banana, etc.), but I am becoming less thrifty though.

    • I love the pockets!! I like to wear dresses in general, but the one thing I don’t like about them is the lack of pockets. So I definitely love when I find a dress that has pockets! 🙂 Yeah, I really need to learn to be less thrifty and buy more quality pieces. I think I am finally leaning that way and will occasionally buy a couple of pieces every year that are more quality pieces. But it’s such a hard habit to break, haha! Though, if it’s a trendy item, it’s probably going to be from the clearance rack at Target. I hate to spend a lot on something I know I’ll only wear for a year or two before passing on. 🙂

  10. gah, rach, you are GORGEOUS! like seriously, stunning!
and I love the dress on you – I would have never thought it was big in you if you hadn’t said anything!
I am a huge bargain shopper too – so its cool to know things like this do exist if I ever wanted to splurge). and the color, neckline, draping is GORGEOUS on yoU!

    • Aww, you’re making my blush! Thanks for all your sweet words! I do really love the draping of the top of this dress and how pretty the neckline is. And I’m not going to lie, the fact that it looks like it fits, but feels really loose – that’s a winner too even though I didn’t really think about it at the time. It covers up a bloated day and still looks cute!

  11. That dress looks great on you! Love that color! You can’t tell it is big on you. It has pockets, which makes it AWESOME!

  12. Yeah, I’d recommend sizing down from eShakti. I have probably 6 dresses from them, all the same size, and they’re all a little loose, which I’m totally okay with. And if you wait for sales and coupon codes you CAN get good deals from them, but it definitely takes some strategy and patience. I got my last dress from them for a total of $13, including shipping.
And I think that dress looks fabulous on you. The color is perfect for your skin tone and the cut is really perfect for your figure!

    • Only $13?! That’s a steal for one of these dresses! Have you done a blog post on how you wait for the sales/use coupons? Because I’d totally find that helpful. Granted, you’re a little busy blogging about being on the other side of the planet right now… haha! 🙂

  13. you look so, so lovely! they sent me a dress to, and i’m just now typing up my post 🙂 do you think i got the same dress as you…???

  14. i’ve worn their pieces before and have been satisfied

  15. That dress looks gorgeous on you!! That color is stunning!!

  16. This dress looks great on you! I love the color as well.

  17. I’ve never heard of eShakti, but that’s pretty cool that they can customize clothing based on your measurements. I need some of my clothes tailored ;( That’s a cute sundress you’re wearing! I need to get some sundresses, will be heading to SE Asia for a bit and you look gorgeous btw! I’m a quality clothing shopper and sometimes clearance rack shopper – for example, if there’s a Stella McCartney vegan booties (most of her boots are made in Italy) I’m eyeing on, I will wait until it’s 60 or 70% off. 🙂

  18. You are so adorable!!!!! I love the video! You forgot to metion how pretty that color is with your skin!
