Casablanca

Casablanca1

I haven’t done a restaurant review on here in a long time because I’ve shared pretty much all of my favorite Memphis eats at some point or another already. However, Casablanca is a place we’ve discovered this year and really enjoy.

Casablanca

Hummus with pita is a favorite of ours. Casablanca’s is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s better than the hummus at other places we’ve eaten here in Memphis.

Christopher loves their Super Sandwich which is a pita stuffed with lamb, beef, and chicken not to mention all the other goodness you see above.

And chicken kabobs will always be my favorite. They are seasoned so well here! The “veggies” it comes with on the side are really more just a couple of starchy potato and sweet potato chunks, but the delicious kabob makes up for it.

In general Christopher and I agree on all our favorite places to eat here in Memphis, but we are definitely split when it comes to our favorite Middle Eastern / Mediterranean place. I still prefer Zam Zamz. I love a good chicken kabob and the one at Zam Zamz is so great. And less expensive than Casablanca’s. And we love the hummus at both places equally. However, Christopher prefers the rich flavors of the other dishes at Casablanca. Plus we can both agree that the decor at Casablanca’s is more fun.

If you are looking for a quick and affordable lunch, Zam Zamz is your place. If you want a slightly nicer place where you will sit down and be there for a bit (and pay a bit more), then check out Casablanca. Or better yet, try them both and let me know which you prefer! πŸ™‚

Now I want the try the chicken kabobs at both places! I’ve had the super sandwich I think, and I’ve had one of their salads. My only complaint was the olives weren’t pitted in my salad and that was a surprise I wasn’t ready for when I bit in, lol. I’m a lazy eater too. I don’t like to have to work for it that much.

    • Oooh that would surprise me too! Good to know they aren’t pitted if I end up having one of their salads. If you like chicken kabobs then I think you should definitely try them at both places and let me know what you think! They are good both places, but I just really love ZamZamz!

  2. That ceiling is making me dizzy! It’s great that you have so many specific restaurants to choose from in Memphis! I feel like Knoxville is lacking that sometimes, especially on our side of town. It’s like, “Which hamburger/fried chicken place do you want to go to?” πŸ˜‰ There was a German place that opened just a couple of years ago. It was pretty good, but they closed down recently (for good). I guess it just wasn’t received that well by our local population, and they went out of business! 😦

    • That is definitely one great thing about Memphis! In fact soon I’m going to share ALL our favorite spots by types of cuisine! πŸ™‚ Shame about the German place closing in Knoxville! We have a German place here that we keep hearing is good, but we haven’t actually made it there. You are inspiring me to want to go there! πŸ™‚

  3. Mmm, I love Mediterranean cuisine. Hummus is one of my favorite things. I always intend to make some at home but never seem to actually do it.

    • Hummus is one of my favorites as well! And like you, I’ve never actually made it at home. But I just love the stuff at restaurants and the type we buy from Sprouts for snacks that I never bother. Maybe that will be something I try after baby arrives when we’re hanging out at home one day. Or maybe I’ll just keep buying my favorite brand because it’s easy… πŸ˜‰

  4. That sandwich looks delicious!

  5. The food looks yummy, and I love pita and hummus πŸ™‚

  8. What a cool place – and deeelicious food!

I have a friend who is obsessed with stripes and rainbows so I sent her that ceiling photo with the caption “future home goals” πŸ˜›

  9. I’m really craving a chicken kabob now, haha! Casablanca sounds so good! I miss your restaurant reviews, so this was fun to read!

    • Aww, I’m so glad you enjoyed the review! I’ve shared all our favorites at some point or another so there aren’t as many new ones to share, haha! And girl, I’m thinking you are due for a chicken kabob. They are so yummy. πŸ™‚
