Last year just before we went to Europe, Christopher and I photographed a lake-side wedding. I never ended up sharing those photos here because we came back from Europe and I shared all about the trip and then suddenly it was holiday season. As I’ve been going through my photos from last year picking favorites to share with you guys, I realized that I should share this wedding as well! 🙂
And even though I’m so late in sharing this that they’ve been married half a year now… best wishes to the bride & groom! 🙂 This is my last “Favorites of 2016” post so thank you guys for your sweet support and encouragement as I’ve shared these! As always, you can see more of my work at Rach Vendetti Photography. 🙂
Things are a little lively around our household right now. We just got home from photographing an out-of-town wedding and visiting family for Labor Day weekend. And we leave the country in two days. TWO DAYS, you guys. So many exciting things and so much that we have been preparing for. And now it’s all HERE. We started the packing process last week since we knew we’d be out of town this weekend which means that after a load of laundry tomorrow morning, we’ll be pretty much ready to go!
We’re traveling light because that’s how we roll (except we don’t really “roll” because we use backpacks, not traditional suitcases, ha!). One carry-on size backpack per person. For 17 days. Totally worth it to not have to deal with checking bags.
For those wondering about the gallon-sized bags… each bag has a date on it and then into that bag Christopher and I put one shirt each, one pair of undies each, and a pair of socks each. That way we’ve laid it out ahead of time to be sure we won’t clash and we don’t have to figure out what we’re wearing each day. Visiting a cathedral and need to have my shoulders covered that day? No problem – there will be a shirt that covers my shoulders in the bag for that day. Hiking? A tank top for that day. We did this when we went to Italy three years ago and it was awesome. Made getting ready for each day so effortless!
For this trip we have 8 different gallon-sized bags with outfits that we’ll wash half way through the trip and then re-wear for the second half of the trip. We also have a 9th bag for our swimwear and a 10th for one long-sleeved shirt each. I know you really care about these details (not, ha!), but I know I’ll like looking back and reading this later. 🙂
Oh, and please feel free to laugh at the medicine cabinet that we’re bringing along. In addition to our normal daily pills, we’re bringing a few “just in case” extras. We’ll be in some fairly remote places at one point on this trip so we’re trying to be pretty prepared.
Alrighty, I’m off to finish up my to-do list! Happy Tuesday, friends!
Now that things are settling down with my photography business, I’m catching up on posts that I meant to share long ago. For example… remember when we went to Panama City Beach, Florida in April to photograph a wedding? That was magic. And I’m finally sharing some of my favorites from the wedding today. 🙂
I just love this shot from their First Look. Bryce couldn’t stop smiling and Nikki had the happy tears going on. So sweet! 🙂
Blessing the groom with prayer
Prayer of blessing for the bride
His face says it all. Love, love, love this. 🙂
We were so honored to be chosen to photograph this wedding. The weather was perfect, everyone was so sweet, and love was in the air. 🙂 If you’d like to see more photos from this wedding, feel free to check out Nikki & Bryce’s wedding album on Facebook.
Most of Saturday was spent working around the house. Mowing, pulling weeds, planting herbs, Goodwill donation run, and such. And most of Sunday was spent doing church stuff (we were home for about 2 hours mid-day yesterday other than when we were sleeping). It was a good sort of weekend. Very productive. We even ran. Yes, ran. Which is so unlike us. We both dislike running, but Christopher needs to do it for his knee to continue healing (from ACL surgery) so I ran with him to encourage him. I used to love to run in high school and college, but after running last night I have found that I definitely don’t miss it. 😉
On a more exciting note we attended a wedding for one of Christopher’s coworkers this past weekend. I know it looks like I’m wearing a white dress to a wedding, but I’m really not! Most of the dress is black, just the empire top is an off-white/cream color. But of course at first glance in these photos it looks like a white dress, ha! If it’s taboo to wear an off-white or cream colored top to a wedding, don’t tell me. I asked lots of people before I decided on this dress and they all made me feel good about wearing it. Don’t take that from me. 😉 Anyway, the wedding was fun and I enjoyed getting to know several of Christopher’s co-workers better.
This weekend we also had a going away party/blessing time for Kelsi. She’s been mentioned quite a bit on this blog because she was part of the group of girls I mentored from 7th grade on. She graduated high school last year, but decided to stay in Memphis for college so we have stayed close with her. She’s like a sister to us. 🙂 Anyway, she has an awesome opportunity in New York for the summer so off she goes! You can keep up to date on her travels at her blog: Journey with Kelsi.
As an extra blessing/going-away gift I gave Kelsi a pouch of letters for the summer. 23 letters to be exact. The first few are time sensitive (open on the plane, open on your first day of work, etc), but the rest are on an “as needed basis”. So letters for days when she is worried, overwhelmed, tired, struggling to get along with people, etc. Christopher even wrote one and titled it “Read me when you need advice from your big brother”. 🙂 I tried to think through all the scenarios that might play out this summer and wrote her a letter of encouragement for each one. 🙂 We’ll miss her, but we are so excited for all of her adventures!
This past weekend Christopher and I went down to Panama City Beach, Florida to photograph a wedding.
Big benefit of photographing a wedding on the beach… arriving early and hanging out on the beach. 😉 Originally we had planned to stay a few extra days at the beach, but we’re headed to Destin again soon so we decided to make this just a quick weekend trip. But we always love the beach so it was awesome!
The weather was perfect, everything went smoothly, and the photos are turning out gorgeous. I’m still sorting through the 2600+ that we took to find the best-of-the-best to edit and send them, but so far they are gorgeous. I couldn’t have done this without Christopher as my co-shooter. He was incredible!
One of my favorite parts of the wedding day was when one of the groomsmen gave a speech at the reception about how love grows. I was blinking back tears while trying to photograph it all. It was so beautiful and true. We were so honored to be chosen to photograph this day and to be included in all the wedding festivities. 🙂
And as an extra bonus, my sister’s family lives close to the beach so we love getting to see them when we go down there. We went to church with them on Sunday morning and then ate lunch together and spent some time together before we needed to leave. It was sweet, sweet time. So glad we got to see them even if it was short!
It was a good sort of weekend, friends. And such a blessing after such a difficult prior weekend. Hope you guys all had a wonderful weekend too!
So very much happened this weekend! It would take me a week to blog about it all so instead we’re going to hit the highlights. Ready and go!
Christopher and I got to spend Thursday evening with Christina from Christina Does It All and her husband, Robby. We ate some delicious Mexican food at our favorite spot (I just realized I’ve never blogged this place #bloggerfail… that post will be coming soon!). The evening also included a trip to a grocery store, a donut shop, and big hugs in a random parking lot. It was a good kind of night. Christina is exactly as she appears on her blog. Vivacious, funny, and friendly. I love when I meet a blogger and it feels more like hanging out with a friend than meeting a new person. She and I have been following each other’s blogs for over 3 years now so it was so great to finally get to meet her in person!
Friday and Saturday of this weekend I was in full wedding mode. Remember that one time I was a wedding coordinator way forever ago? Yeah, that happened again. It can be exhausting work, but there is nothing quite like the magic of watching it all come together so beautifully. I wore a pedometer on the wedding day to see how far I walked… it was 7 miles… in heels… yeah, the blisters are pretty intense. But it was all worth it to get to take the stress off the bride and allow her to enjoy her day. Next time I just need better shoes, ha!
Sunday afternoon was packed full with three back-to-back photo sessions. But that is nothing compared to the seven coming at me this weekend. I currently have 21 sessions booked for this month (not counting the 4-5 people who I will try to squeeze in when they call last minute for Christmas card photos like last year, ha!). Which is awesome. Because yay people like my work! But it definitely keeps me super busy. Thankfully I love what I do so while yes, it is busy, it’s an awesome sort of busy. 🙂
Have you ever worn the wrong shoes for a day when you’d be walking a lot?
Been to any weddings or met any other bloggers lately?
If you are having professional photos taken this fall, have you scheduled your session yet?
I meant to share this video last week, but I was a little preoccupied with food poisoning, ha! Anyway, I know some of you have probably seen this on Facebook already, but if you haven’t yet… here it is. A shortened version of our wedding video. 🙂
Oh, what a precious day this was! Such a beautiful beginning to our marriage. I am so thankful for every day that I get to spend with this man. Happy 7 years of marriage to us. 🙂
